Twilidyne was an early project for musician Derek Jevens and was linked to his love of the UK band Keane.
Twilidyne wasn’t always Twilidyne. In the spring of 2005 Derek Jevens decided he was ready to make his own band, but he lacked the major things in a band, a singer and a drummer. Derek decided to name his band “Derek Jevens” due to the lack of other band members. Derek could play the piano and keyboard based bass. Even with the lack of a vocalist and drummer Derek began to write lyrics and began to write music for them. Derek’s first song written was a song called “Every Now and Then” and today Derek says “the song was good, but it was also bad. Musically the song was okay, but I don’t think I’ve ever written a soppier song. Ever!” As Derek continued to write songs and experiment with sound his skills at the piano and keyboards got better and better. Soon Derek felt good enough at the piano to begin to record a few demos. Of the songs he recorded were Every Now and Then, The World is Ending, What If, and the early version of Lament.
