Dean Kyrwood spent 9 years in the fashion industry, a career that saw him travel the world many times sharing the catwalk with the likes of Helena Christiansen and Sarah O’Hare. You may have seen him in commercials for Coke, Mars Bars ,Gianfranco Ferre jeans, Gatorade and Lexus to name a few.
All the while Dean had an acoustic guitar in tow and began writing and perfecting his craft as a musician and singer/songwriter.I n the very late 90’s Dean could no longer ignore the pull of his true calling and turned his back on the glitz, glamour and money of the fashion biz..And began to pay his dues as a full time musician.
Bass being his first instrument Dean auditioned for and after making the grade spent 5 years as the bass player, backing vocalist and released five independent albums with Newcastle outfit Little Hornet. Since parting ways, he has released an EP Aqua Profonda, which has been in the top ten numerous times on mp3.com.au from 2000-2005.
In late 2005 Dean was a top 5 finalist in “best male vocal” and” pop “categories of the ABC music awards….and more recently in 2006.. won the “best male vocal” category at the ABC music awards.
Dean began doing solo shows on a weekly basis back in 2004 in Newcastle,Central Coast and Sydney venues…and has y supported artists such as Abby Dobson (Leonardo’s Bride) and Delta Goodrem, Richard Clapton, Darryl Braithewaite and Nick Barker. The recording of Deans first full album is was completed with newcastle super-producer Karl Brandstater, and sees Dean taking a new style direction with a jazz/folk/pop fusion.
These days Dean is equally well known for his acting.
