Introducing one of the UK’s best-kept secrets; singer songwriter Sam Gomm.
Sam’s EP “Great!” was released in February 2013 in the United Kingdom and can proudly boast it was ‘Made in Wales’. Welsh born Sam who now lives and performs in Holland came back to his roots last autumn 2012 to record three brand new tracks at Bos Studio, Llanerfyl, Mid Wales. His father well-known singer songwriter Ian Gomm, who also wrote two of the songs with Sam, produced the CD. The EP features top UK musicians Gwyn Jones, Siân James, Karen Gomm, Robi Buckley, Ian Gomm and Clive Gregson.
Ian Gomm (Sam’s father) was the guitarist in Brinsley Schwarz in the early 1970s before becoming a solo artist on the band’s demise in 1975. Ian’s first solo album reached the US charts and ‘Hold On’ the single from the album was a Top 20 Hit in the USA in 1979. Ian still gigs frequently and retains a strong fan base all over the world.
Sam has lived in Holland for many years now and moved there to settle down with his Dutch girlfriend. During this time, he has performed at many European shows and gigs as well as appearing on the national TV station and other forms of media in Holland.
“The first track I can remember playing was John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ when I was nine years old and I always wanted to be a singer song writer from a very young age’ I used to sing in my school choir and at the Welsh National Eisteddfod.”
He has been performing since the age of 16 and used to have his own band called SammyG where they played all over Wales, so for the last few years he has been living his dream.
