Matthew G was one of the first artists to appear on AOLM over 10 years ago and is still one of our most popular today. These days Matt concentrates mostly on his Tattoo business, but we would love to think he will come back to his music sometime. In the meanwhile you can listen to his repertoire here.
“Based in Grimsby in Lincolnshire Matthew G makes beautiful music, using his superb voice over both simple piano and electro to send shivers down your spine
March 29th 2007 marked Matthew G’s first ever headlining show at local club The Venue (Grimsby, Lincs). A lively crowd turned-out to see Matthew and fellow BA (hons) Creative Music degree student Malaya perform an exciting mix of electro-pop/ballad/synth and funk/dance. The night was a huge sucess.
Matthew has been working closely with two local dancers and for his opening track they provided some eerie contemporary choreography under a U.V. lit stage.
Martyn from artistsonlinemusic was there to give his support and seemed to have a ‘jolly good time…’ Matthew was also pleased to welcome family and friends, as well as a fast-growing local group of dedicated fans off all ages.
Matthew performed a range of covers and original tracks including:
I Want You (Electro re-arrangement by Matthew G)
What Is Love? (Electro-dance rearrangement by Matthew G)
Shame (Original ambient mix by Matthew G/P. Daine)
Smiling (Accompanied by ‘live’ piano)
It’s A Sin (Originally by The Pet Shop Boys)
The Man Who (MySpace collaboration by Matthew G/Maliika)
The Moon’s View (MySpace collaboration by Matthew G/Maliika)
Running Up That Hill (Electro re-arrangement by Matthew G)
Sweet Dreams (Originally by Eurythmics)
**Matthew G & Malaya performed an encore from Malaya’s set: Ain’t Nobody (Originally by Chaka Khan)
Malaya complemented Matthew’s funky sexy retro-electro style for the night with her foxy dance/soul grooves, proving a real hit with the boys.
