Key Interval is a Trio Art Rock-Experimental-Progressive band formed in the town of Franklin, TN. Just a few miles south of Nashville. The band consists of two brothers and a friend. One brother took 4 years of classical piano training, the other brother took a year of drum study, and two years of theoretical bass training.
Some years ago the two brothers invited a friend over who had been taking lessons for the drums. After a short time of playing, the 3 realized that they had a very unique chemistry. Over time an odd, sense of time, melody, and harmony developed from these humble beginnings. The drummer is not currently active (but not gone from the scene).
So at the moment that leaves the two brothers to write and record. One plays piano, organ, synth, and guitar, the other vocals, bass, and drums. Key Interval is in the process of writing and recording new music. With the current process there exist two goals in mind, a full album, and a professionally polished sound. Key Interval believes wholeheartedly in the term, progressive, in that every band should continue to improve upon the design.
Each member draws on very diverse sources of music. The band grew up listening to what can be called the usual suspects of inspiration. The Beatles, Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Doors, and probably the most obvious, Pink Floyd. Currently Key Interval enjoys bands that are keeping music alive, examples include Porcupine Tree, Karnivool, Vast, Sydonia, Dead Letter Circus, and OSI. Those are certainly not the only sources of inspiration though. From tasteful electronic (but NO trance), classical, all the way to extreme instrumental groups, the band tries to draw from diversity.
