Johnson Jay
Bio
Singer/songwriter and guitarist Johnson-Jay grew up in Sydney, Australia, and currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Taking up guitar at the age of 9, he honed his craft busking and in a variety of school bands. By the time he was 14, he was performing at professional gigs and festivals.
As well as writing and performing his own material, Johnson-Jay has worked as a session musician and sideman for some of the most established producers and musicians of our time, including Faces (Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Kenney Jones), Yola, Imelda May, Bob Geldof, Tony Visconti (producer/collaborator of David Bowie, T-Rex); Stuart Copeland (The Police), Steve Ferrone (Eric Clapton, Tom Petty); Gail Ann Dorsey (Lenny Kravitz), Kenney Jones (The Faces, The Small Faces, The Who); Steve Harley, Mike Rutherford (Genesis, Mike and the Mechanics) and many more.
Of particular note was being chosen by the musical supervisor, Henry Hey, for the West End premier of ‘Lazarus’ – David Bowie’s final masterpiece – to perform as Guitar 1 without audition and a year before the show was even announced.
JJ’s latest single was released in August 2023, Miracle and was was chosen as an AOLMRadio Top Track In November 2023.
