We are a folk trio from Dorchester called Tam Lyn. Our music is a mixture of traditional tunes, traditional songs and originals written by Al and cocked up by Neill!
Al Simpson sings and plays guitar for tTam Lyn. Al is a multi talented musician, composer and song writer, who is also classically trained on piano and trombone. When not playing in Tam Lyn he performs in orchestras, choirs and for various shows.
Neill Prosser plays fiddle, guitar and bouzouki for Tam Lyn. Neill started his musical career as a guitarist in goth, punk and metal bands gigging mainly round the south of England. Neill turned his hand to folk and the fiddle twenty years ago and sought tuition from jazz violinist and sligo fiddler Dermott McConville with whom he remained a pupil for 8 years.
The first folkband Neill played with was a local band The Dolmen with whom he remained for about ten years. Neill has spent his time since playing in duos, sessions and private recordings. We were a duo until we were joined by Irish bodhran player and percussionist, Victor Johnson.
